Sorting and Treatment Plants
Berryman’s sister company Reuse Glass operates some of the world’s most advanced cullet sorting and treatment plants. Located in London, West and South Yorkshire and Kent, they use sophisticated optical and mechanical processes to ensure that cullet of the highest quality is available for re-processing.
Raw Cullet Collection
Raw cullet from bottle banks, kerbside, or MRFs are transported to our cullet treatment plants for processing.

Crushing and Cleaning
Large conveyors carry the raw cullet in to the processing plant where it is crushed through vibrating screens and cleaned.
Manual Sorting and Picking Stations
Manual sorting of larger contaminants.
Magnets and Metal Detection
Magnets and metal detectors remove unwanted materials and bottle tops.
Vacuum
Vacuum heads remove lighter contaminants such as paper.
Lasers
State of the art laser technology identifies and removes any unwanted contaminants.
Pyroceramic Detection and Colour Separation
Sophisticated X-Ray inspection removes potentially troublesome and otherwise undetectable contaminants such as ceramic and ovenware. We also use colour separation technology to separate cullet into the three colours – clear (white), amber (brown) and green.
Conveyors
Conveyors carry the quality reprocessed cullet direct to the glass factory for re-melt.
